FLORAL EYE

The fourth artwork in the 'Nature & Us' collection.

The floral eye is the fourth hand embroidered artwork in the 'Nature & Us' collection.

The focal point of the design is the iris. I used the six main colours that human irises can be which includes blue, brown, green, grey, amber and hazel. I incorporated a variety of flowers within the iris including a dahlia, columbine, sea holly, poppy and pansy.

The pupil of the eye was embroidered using black flowers including a large rose. The eyelashes were stitched using eight different shades of brown. This created an ombre effect. The flowers and leaves to the right of the design uses a colour palette representing skin tones.

The original artwork is approximately A3 sized and took around 100 hours to embroider.
